Good Faith Estimate

Last updated October 1, 2026

If you are not using insurance to pay for care, you may have the right to a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges under the federal No Surprises Act.

Request an estimate

You can ask Marin Joint Health for a written estimate before scheduling care. For services scheduled at least 3 business days in advance, a provider generally must give you an estimate: within 1 business day when scheduled 3 to 9 business days ahead, or within 3 business days when scheduled 10 or more business days ahead. An estimate requested before scheduling generally must be provided within 3 business days.

An estimate lists expected charges for the items and services covered by that provider. It is not a final bill; separately scheduled services, care from other providers and unexpected services may not be included. Keep a copy for your records.

If your bill is higher

If the bill from a provider is at least $400 above the estimate from that provider, you may be eligible to dispute it through the federal patient-provider dispute resolution process. Visit cms.gov/medical-bill-rights for current rules and assistance.
